Upcoming Virtual Public Meeting

SJTPO’s next Policy Board meeting will take place on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 10:00 AM. Agenda items include approving contract modifications to the Multilingual Outreach Services, Cumberland County Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Action Plan, and Ocean Drive (CR 621) Local Concept Development Study, among other topics. COVID-19: SJTPO’s Response

2020 Policy Board Members

SJTPO’s annual Policy Board reorganization meeting took place yesterday morning. We are happy to welcome all new and returning members. We are excited about the year ahead!

FREE Complete Streets Training

The North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA), the Voorhees Transportation Center (VTC) at Rutgers University, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), and Sustainable Jersey are hosting a free Complete Streets training session in the SJTPO region. The training will provide an overview of complete streets and the many resources available to assist local officials and community members in advancing complete streets initiatives.

The event will take place on Thursday, January 9, 2020, 9:30 am – 4:00 pm at Rowan College of South Jersey – Cumberland Campus in Vineland. To attend, please register.

Complete Streets Summit and Model Policy

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), along with the Alan M. Voorhees Transportation Center, will host the 2019 NJ Complete Streets Summit on September 24, 2019 at Rutgers University. Registration for this free event is now open.

NJDOT released a Model Complete Streets Policy and Guide, which will help NJ municipalities adopt, update, and implement their own Complete Streets policies.

Public Meetings for 2050 Regional Transportation Plan

 

The SJTPO is beginning the process to update the federally-required Regional Transportation Plan (RTP). The RTP identifies the long-range vision for the regional transportation system, outlines the goals, strategies, and projects over a 30-year period, and details anticipated funding. The RTP will guide how over $5 billion in federal transportation funds will be spent in the region over the next 30 years.

Four public meetings will be held (view RTP webpage for meeting times and locations). If you are unable to attend, please provide input on SJTPO’s existing RTP goals and strategies, as well as ideas for new ones. To do so, please visit the Public Comment webpage. Your input will guide the direction of the RTP, scheduled for release in July 2020.

Agenda items include approving an amendment to the FY 2019 Unified Planning Work Program (UPWP), adopting the 2019 Public Involvement Plan (PIP), and adopting the Staff Replacement Plan, among other topics. NJDOT Commitment to Communities

Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti, Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Transportation, announced an initiative called “Commitment to Communities.” The initiative highlighted the NJDOT’s pledge to ensure local governments succeed in delivering transportation projects that improve safety and quality of life in New Jersey communities without unduly burdening local property taxpayers. Ms. Diane Gutierrez-Scaccetti informed stakeholders that the initiative is succeeding and is an important element in providing superior multi-modal mobility to millions of New Jersey residents every day.

Route 54/40 Shuttle

Cross County Connection created a video featuring the Rt. 54/40 Community Shuttle, a free weekday Route Service in Atlantic County. The video is available to view on our YouTube channel. The shuttle schedule and information on accessible services is available on CCC’s website.

Notice of Availability – Request for the Proposals (RFP): Atlantic City Road Safety Assessment for Atlantic Avenue

The City of Atlantic City is seeking a qualified firm to undertake a road safety assessment for all modes of travel on Atlantic Avenue from Boston Avenue (MP 5.73) to Maine Avenue (MP 8.15). The City would like to advance improvements along Atlantic Avenue, including repaving, operational, and safety improvements with the road safety assessment used as a tool to ensure that improvement meaningfully address the existing safety issues along the corridor.

Technical proposals must be prepared and submitted in accordance with the goals, requirements, format, and guidelines presented in this RFP document. The RFP is currently available, interested firms should contact the Atlantic City Purchasing Department at (609) 347-5390 (tmooney@cityofatlanticcity.org, etittermary@cityofatlanticcity.org, kastin@cityofatlanticcity.org) to receive a copy of the RFP via email.

Proposals are to be received no later than 11:00 A.M., prevailing time, on Friday, April 26, 2019. The City shall not be held responsible for proposal packages that arrive late or to the wrong location. Late proposal packages shall not be considered. Submittals should be addressed to:
