SOUTH JERSEY TRANSPORTATION PLANNING ORGANIZATION  

RESOLUTION 0709-33:       Approving the Environmental Mitigation Supplement to the SJTPO 2025 Regional Transportation Plan  

WHEREAS, the South Jersey Transportation Planning Organization (SJTPO) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) designated under Federal law for the southern region of New Jersey including Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem Counties; and,  

WHEREAS, pursuant to 23 CFR Parts 450 and 500 and 49 CFR Part 613, the SJTPO is responsible for the development of a Regional Tranbsportation Plan (RTP) to guide the metropolitan planning process in southern New Jersey; and,  

WHEREAS, the SJTPO 2025 Regional Transportation Plan was completed in June 2004; and,  

WHEREAS, on August 10, 2005, the President signed into law the Safe Accountable Flexible Efficient Transportation Equity Act: a Legacy for Users, which necessitated new planning requirements in a number of areas including those that address environmental mitigation; and,  

WHEREAS, the SJTPO is proposing the adoption of a supplement to the RTP in order to provide greater elaboration regarding Environmental Mitigation Strategies that are used in southern New Jersey; and,  

WHEREAS, this supplement to the RTP will not affect the current Conformity Determination, and therefore, no new determination is required;  

WHEREAS, this supplement to the RTP has been the subject of a public meeting conducted on August 6, 2007, at the SJTPO offices; and,  

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Policy Board of the South Jersey Transportation Planning Organization hereby approves the attached supplement to the RTP for southern New Jersey , the SJTPO 2025 Regional Transportation Plan.  

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that copies of this resolution along with the supplement be forwarded to the FHWA, FTA, EPA, NJDOT , NJ Transit, NJDEP.
