SOUTH JERSEY TRANSPORTATION PLANNING ORGANIZATION  

RESOLUTION 0701-06:       Adopting the SJTPO 2030 Demographic Forecasts of June, 2006    

            WHEREAS, the South Jersey Transportation Planning Organization (SJTPO) is the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) designated under Federal law for the southern region of New Jersey including Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland, and Salem Counties; and,  

            WHEREAS, SJTPO is responsible for prioritizing and programming Federal and State funds for surface transportation in the region, and this responsibility includes proactive public involvement; and,  

            WHEREAS, SJTPO Policy Board approved a consultant contract at its January 23, 2006 meeting to commission a demographic forecasting study; and,  

            WHEREAS, the study will be an important component in updating the South Jersey Travel Demand Model, and the updated Regional Transportation Plan; and,  

WHEREAS, SJTPO Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) received and reviewed the report titled 2030 Demographic Forecasts, June 2006, and heard from the consultant on a regular basis to confirm assumptions; and,  

            WHEREAS, at its November 2006 meeting the TAC recommended the Policy Board accept and distribute the above mentioned report and the forecasts contained therein; and,  

            NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Policy Board of the South Jersey Transportation Planning Organization hereby adopt the 2030 Demographic Forecasts as the official forecasts for the SJTPO region; and,  

            BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the forecast will be used by the SJTPO and other agencies to plan future transportation projects and programs.
