First elected Mayor of Sea Isle City in May 1993, Mayor Desiderio was re-elected to his second term in 1997 with 75% of the votes cast and appointed to the Policy Board of the SJTPO in 1998.

A native of Nutley, New Jersey, Mayor Desiderio spent his summers in Sea Isle City helping to manage the family owned, family oriented businesses.  He settled permanently in Sea Isle City in 1983 where he took the helm as President of those family owned companies.

As Mayor of Sea Isle City, Leonard Desiderio has been instrumental in promoting the community a a family oriented destination for vacationers.  His untiring energy was instrumental in Sea Isle City's receipt of a multi-million dollar grant for beach replenishment.

As Sea Isle City's Director of Revenue and Finance, Mayor Desiderio has held the tax rebate stable for the past four years while decreasing the City's debt.  His prudent methods of spending have paid off for the taxpayers of Sea Isle City.

Mayor Desiderio is married to Carmela Vitiello and they have one daughter.
