INTRODUCTION
The South Jersey Transportation Planning Organization (SJTPO)
is a regional transportation planning organization serving the southern New
Jersey, four-county region of Atlantic, Cape May, Cumberland and Salem Counties.
Its mission is to coordinate the transportation planning efforts of the four
counties.
The purpose of data book is to:
Provide the data needed to support SJTPO planning activities
Provide information on SJTPO demographics to the general public,
public agencies, etc.
The primary source of information for this Report was the
1990 and 2000 Census. Not all of the data from the year 2000 Census has been
released, and so this Report is work in progress. It will eventually include:
Journey-to-work and other transportation-related information
Employment data
The Report will also include SJTPO and county population projections, which are currently being revised to reflect year 2000 Census data.
This Data Book is divided into two basic
sections
SJTPO and county data summaries (a summary comparing population
data for SJTPO with other other MPO’s in New Jersey)
Data for each municipality in the SJTPO Region
